Maria Umphress is a California Licensed Professional Fiduciary (CLPF #1405) and National Certified Guardian. She works with the Professional Fiduciary Services (PFS) group serving Orange County, California. Maria works alongside Richard Huntington as a partner with his individual and family fiduciary work, bringing even more skills and attention to the family and process.
A highly skilled, experienced, and compassionate service provider for over seven years, Maria excels in providing clients with timely and accurate communication. Maria has prepared fiduciary accountings for submittal to the courts, including federal bankruptcy accounting and reporting. She has received extensive training and gained critical experience under the tutelage of Barbara Willey (CPA), specifically in the areas of tax preparation for trusts and estates. Maria is a graduate of California State University Fullerton (CSUF). She is bilingual and biliterate in Spanish.
Maria is the owner and founder of Back Office Support Services (BOSS) since 2018. Back Office Support Services provides all aspects of bookkeeping including: management of financials, account reconciliation, AP & AR, fiduciary accountings for trusts, conservatorships, and probate. Acting liaison for clients with third parties including real estate brokers, CPA’s, financial institutions, caregiving agencies, contractors, estate sales, insurance carriers, employees, tenants, and utility companies.
Prior to her involvement in this aspect of business, Maria served in a management capacity within a private environmental company that achieved incredible growth over a nineteen-year span. Maria was instrumental in the company’s development and played key roles in nearly all aspects of the business from regulatory compliance, accounting, payroll, logistics, customer service, human resources, and senior management.
Maria is a member of the Professional Fiduciary Association of California (PFAC), and an associate member of the Trusts & Estates and Elder Law Sections of the Orange County Bar Association (OCBA).
A life-long resident of Southern California, Maria enjoys hiking and is often found chasing her faithful Labrador “Beans”, in the national forest right outside her backdoor in Silverado Canyon. Maria along with her husband Kirt are the proud parents of five wonderful adult children and like to spoil their two beautiful granddaughters.
